⚠ Handle with extreme caution. Mad Dog 357 Gold Edition Hot Sauce is a 1,000,000 SHU product, among the hottest sauces made. Direct skin, eye, or respiratory contact can cause serious irritation or injury. Wear nitrile gloves, splash goggles, and a respirator/mask rated for capsaicin dust or aerosol. Mix only in a well-ventilated area or under an exhaust hood. Keep away from children and untrained staff.

Batch Overview

Base sauce Cayenne Sauce, ~10,000 SHU
Base volume 1 gallon (128 fl oz)
Additive Mad Dog 357 Gold Edition Hot Sauce, 1,000,000 SHU (5 fl oz bottles, 1–4 bottles per batch)
Finished batch volume 133–148 fl oz (~1.04–1.16 gal)
Estimated finished heat ~47,200–143,800 SHU (volume-weighted average, depending on bottle count)

Calculation: (128 oz × 10,000 SHU + additive oz × 1,000,000 SHU) ÷ total oz. At 1 bottle (5 oz additive, 133 oz total) this comes to ≈47,218 SHU; at 4 bottles (20 oz additive, 148 oz total) it comes to ≈143,784 SHU. This is an estimate based on linear dilution; actual heat should be confirmed by lab test (HPLC) or trained sensory panel before labeling, since product potency can vary by production lot.

Heat Levels by Number of Bottles

Each bottle is 5 fl oz of Mad Dog 357 Gold Edition Hot Sauce (1,000,000 SHU), added to the same 1 gallon (128 fl oz) of 10,000 SHU Cayenne Sauce base.

Bottles Additive Added Finished Volume Estimated SHU
1 bottle 5 fl oz 133 fl oz ~47,200 SHU
2 bottles 10 fl oz 138 fl oz ~81,700 SHU
3 bottles 15 fl oz 143 fl oz ~113,800 SHU
4 bottles 20 fl oz 148 fl oz ~143,800 SHU

Because the Gold Edition is 100x hotter than the cayenne base, even one bottle nearly quintuples the batch heat — going to four bottles roughly triples that again. As always, confirm final SHU with lab testing before labeling.

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon (128 fl oz) Cayenne Sauce base, ~10,000 SHU
  • Mad Dog 357 Gold Edition Hot Sauce, 1,000,000 SHU (5 fl oz bottles, 1–4 per batch)

Method

  1. Suit up. Gloves, goggles, and respirator on before opening the Gold Edition. Work under ventilation.
  2. Stage the base. Measure 1 gallon (128 fl oz) of the 10,000 SHU cayenne sauce into your mixing vessel.
  3. Measure the additive. Measure out your chosen number of 5 fl oz bottles (1, 2, 3, or 4 — see heat level table above) of Mad Dog 357 Gold Edition Hot Sauce into a sealed, labeled container. Do this in the ventilated area — avoid pouring near your face.
  4. Combine slowly. With the mixer running on low, slowly stream the Gold Edition into the base sauce. Do not dump it in all at once — a slow pour prevents splashing and aerosolizing.
  5. Blend to uniform. Mix on low-to-medium speed for 3–5 minutes until fully incorporated with no visible separation or pooling of oil.
  6. Rest and re-check. Let the batch sit for a few minutes, then stir again — capsaicin oil can re-separate before full emulsification.
